Violet & George Interior Design

Passionate, creative and thoroughly delightful interior design

Violet & George was born in 2009 out of a passion for exquisite textiles, meaningful, luxury interior design and an in depth knowledge of soft furnishings. Since then, we have become synonymous with luxurious interiors, carefully created soft furnishings and thoughtful interior decoration created to reflect and magnify our clients’ individual tastes. As a creative West London interior design agency, we’re ‘new fashioned’, skilled in the traditional crafts of interior decoration and design and fastidious in our attention to detail, but at the same time aware of contemporary trends, taste and technology.

The attention we pay to what matters most in the lives of our clients sets us apart. Our interior design and decoration consultancy flexes to work whichever way suits them best. It includes made-to-measure tailoring and upholstery, paint and fabric advice, intelligent lighting solutions and unique decorative flourishes.

From our West London interior design studio and soft furnishings workshop in Hampshire our designers and craftsmen collaborate with a trusted network of specialists to ensure exceptional levels of fit and finish. And high levels of customer delight too. No request is too exotic (or mundane); no imagination too wild; no expectation left unfulfilled.

Finance & Operations Director

The only department in Violet & George where creativity is frowned upon, Philippa runs our finance department with efficiency and acumen gained over many years in our sector. She’s been here since the start, creating a proprietary accounting system based on the very individual V&G design process. It oils our financial wheels and brings precision to an otherwise free-flowing creative journey.

With an extensive and varied career in soft furnishings, Phil manages our workshop and oversees all our installations. A traditionally trained upholsterer, he is a stickler for detail and a true craftsman, which is why all his work is executed with precision and care. He’s a knowledgeable, safe pair of hands who’s welcomed in all our clients’ homes.

Stefan

Upholsterer and fitter

Stefan has been apprenticed to our Workshop Manager, Phil, since leaving school. Passing on the upholstery skills and insight needed to achieve our uncompromising quality standards wasn’t a short-term strategy for either of them. But with Stefan’s appetite for learning served by Phil’s delight in sharing his craftsman’s knowledge, we are reaping rich rewards from the investment. Stefan now oversees many of our bespoke projects from design to completion.

We have had the most wonderful experience with Violet & George, which has resulted in a home that we truly love. Nicky and Lottie, really listened to all our of our needs and ideas and brought them to reality, adding lots of their flair and fantastic ideas into the mix too. The attention to detail and space planning has been second to none. So many little details, that have given us the most beautiful, functional family home.
We’ve had lovely comments from friends & family about how cosy and established (for want of a better word) our home feels, and how it really reflects our personalities. I think this is testimony to just how much Violet & George really tapped into our wishes for our home.
The communication and planning was seem-less. Every piece was really considered, and when in situ, was altered if not right, to achieve the best possible finish. We couldn’t recommend Nicky and her team highly enough.

Nicky has been my secret weapon in revamping a very messy outdated house and making it into a cosy modern home. Her team are the most professional workmen that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Nicky managed the whole project with great skill. She would magically appear and whirl around the house making changes and booking workmen as needed. Our curtains and soft furnishing session, which I was dreading, went off without a hitch. She just has an eye for what works. To top it all Nicky is understanding and kind and has the ability to work around even the most difficult people. If you were my best friend I would highly recommend her to you….but keep it a secret or she will be too busy to do my next project!

We chose Violet & George to help us redesign the new apartment we had purchased in Kensington, to oversee the building work we were having done and select new furnishings. The project was initially led by Nicky Mudie and then Karen Findlay. We were impressed by the total commitment shown during the difficult period of the Covid pandemic. We were very pleased by the taste shown and could not have been more delighted by the apartment when the renovations were complete.

V&G, led by Nicky, have been invaluable in their help and guidance in designing interiors and project-managing, both our current and previous homes in London. Nicky’s expertise, network, breadth of knowledge and experience and fantastic taste were hugely helpful to the process.

Review by Geoffrey Taunton

It was really a case of Nicky Mudie to the rescue. I have two newly built flats in central Kensington that I wanted to decorate and furnish for the rental market. This was well outside my comfort zone.

Nicky prepared the schedule and budget to aim for an above average rent for the area, very helpful to repay the building costs. From being quite a daunting task, the project has become great fun. Nicky has coordinated with the builders to make sure that everything was carried out to the highest standard. The results have been stunning and at a cost which is surprisingly affordable.

Particularly impressive have been the Violet & George support staff, who have obtained all the furnishings and fabrics very smoothly, and taken an enormous amount of responsibility off my shoulders.
